Summer Stuff

Summer has been pretty busy lately. Hanging out with friends, working on cool Mac OS X apps, and of course playing games such as Dofus have all occupied my time.

Last night my dad and I decided to go to BC Place (a massive arena, for those who don't know, that holds up to 60,000 people) to catch the BC Lions vs Calgary football game. We got there a little late, and found out that there were only single seats left. (No, it didn't sell out to 60,000, they close the top level for most of the season) We ended up having to buy tickets from a scalper, which got us on the Calgary side of the arena. When the Lions completely dominated Calgary in the fourth quarter however, the Calgary fans on our side were pretty quiet, so it was all good.

I've been working on a new version of Wallet 2 as well. The new version will hopefully be a lot cleaner and faster, as well as adding some cool new Tiger-specific features. This release will be a really nice one.

Myself and some other people have been working on a very cool new version of some application which we hope to finish by the end of the summer.

Last but not least a new iVideo is set to be released very soon. This summer will be big for Waterfall Software.

In September, the dungeon school opens up again. Unfortunately I'll need to do really well the coming year and the year after, if I hope to live up to my dreams of attending UBC in 2007.

That's all for now. NIN Concert in September. I'm stoked.
Mini Portfolio
I've been working on a more unique "portfolio" to showcase my work from the past few years. My previous portfolio on this website was pretty ugly and boring. Although I do need to make a detailed portfolio in the future, for now I wanted to create a sort of 'mini portfolio'.

I wanted to spice it up somehow. I needed to make it unique, quick, and easy to look at. I believe I've accomplished that for now. At the moment, I've only added a few pages with limited information. I hope to soon create a larger, more detailed version of this portfolio design. Click the book cover on the right for the current result.
"Only" Video
Really sorry for all the posts regarding Nine Inch Nails, but this video is beyond cool. I really like the use of Macs, and the way they did the pin-graph-face thing is simply amazing and way too realistic for it's own good.

If you haven't already, check it out. Possibly one of the coolest videos of all time (for one of the coolest songs).

Anyways, no more NIN posts. Really. I promise (not really).
Localization Frustration
Localization (for the most part) is an extremely easy way to get Cocoa apps to support multiple languages on Mac OS X. I've spent the past two days making Wallet 2 localizable, and it has been fun! Lots of users are willing to help and port Wallet 2 to their native language. I only have to change a few strings, and everything is automatically built in. However...

Multiple nibs. This part REALLY gets on my nerves, because now I have to update every version of the NIB manually every time I want to make an interface change. Or, I'll be forced to make these changes by code. Seriously though, Apple needs a nice way for interfaces to stay-in-sync with multiple languages. I really do dread lots of languages in the future, because I'm bound to make an error sooner or later because of a very simple language change. Whoops, disconnected an outlet and broke Wallet in Spanish! Damnit.

Overall, it's great. Wallet 2.0.2 (in the works) will support German, with more languages to come in 2.1 and so on.

If you're interested in helping translate to a language, see this forum post.
