Worst. Apple. Event. Ever!

On Tuesday, Apple introduced some fun new products at its media event in Cupertino. Unfortunately, many people did not seem to understand that this event was no MacWorld. Infact, some predicted hordes of new products, with everything from the "real Video iPod" to an Apple Tablet. These people became so distressed at the lack of new surprises introduced Tuesday that they dubbed it the "worst Apple Event ever."
Haha!
First of all, the so called "mediocre boombox" is not as one thinks. Sure, the iPod Hi-Fi is big and bulky, and definitely not revolutionary, but it does what its advertised to do, and apparently does it very well. I'm not sure how it compares to the Bose SoundDock (which sounds really nice), but I do know that Apple believes in home quality sound played straight from an iPod, and they've definitely accomplished that. The iPod Hi-Fi is a solid product.
Secondly, the new Mac mini is amazing. Yes, this was a correctly predicted rumor, as was the iPod Hi-Fi, but that does not make it any less great. Apple managed to shove a Core Duo processor into a Mac mini, making it 4 to 5 times faster. But, oh no, integrated graphics! Has hell frozen over? No. Infact, the Intel GMA950, although integrated, is significantly better than the graphics card in the old Mac mini. It most likely won't offer the best performance when playing the latest games, but it does support Core Image, and will play HD video easily. Mine is arriving Monday.
This event was over-hyped. Not by Apple though, but by rumor sites and news sites everywhere. All I have to say is: next Apple event, don't expect Apple to reinvent the wheel.
